Going on interviews but not landing offers? Or dreading the thought of being interviewed?

Posted on: May 30, 2016 Category: Blog

Here’s the formula used to determine if you’re a great hire:  FIT + PASSION + ABILITY = YOU’RE HIRED!

Questions Hiring Managers ask themselves:

Fit
Are you someone I like and want to work with?  Are you easy to talk with and personable?  Likability is very important in creating a great first impression.  Tip:  Extend a solid hand shake and lead with a great smile.

Passion
Do you really want this job?  Are you truly interested in this job, or just looking for a new job?  Differentiate yourself and show your passion by doing your research – go beyond their web site. Assess their critical needs – beyond what is noted in the job posting.  Then, during your interview demonstrate your excitement for solving their problems and managing their issues.

Ability
Can you do the job?  More importantly – What’s your track record of success?  Starting with:  Tell me about yourself and Walk me through your resume. Throughout the interview, tell the hiring manager about your successes resolving issues similar to those encountered in the role you have applied for. Ensure you back your experience by providing concrete examples of your successes and results.

Now, think about your last interview: Do an Interview Audit
Did you present relevant information important to that position? Did you tailor your responses to their needs? Did you project:  Fit, Passion and Ability?
